Joining Steel Pipe

Threaded steel pipe is sturdy and reliable once installed. It can, however, drive one to tears during installation or repair. It's often called rigid pipe--a well-earned name. It won't deflect around small obstacles as copper can, and because each joint threads together, you must install it in a fixed order without interruption.
Fortunately, if you understand the system and have the right tools on hand, you can skip most of the heartbreak.
